How to Install a Thermal Printer (Receipt Printer)

Purpose:
Ensure reliable setup of a thermal receipt printer for retail or restaurant POS environments.

Prerequisites:

• Thermal printer unit

• Power cable & adaptor

• USB/Serial/Ethernet cable

• Thermal paper roll (80mm or 58mm, as per model)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Unpack & Inspect:
   Check for damage or missing accessories. Ensure thermal paper is of correct size.

2. Load the Paper Roll:

   • Open the cover.

   • Insert paper roll with thermal side facing out.

   • Close cover firmly until it clicks.

3. Connect to POS Terminal:

   • USB → Connect to available port

   • Serial → Use COM port with driver

   • Ethernet → Connect to router/switch (for network printers)

4. Connect Power Cable:
   Plug in the power adaptor and switch on the printer.

5. Install Drivers (if not plug-and-play):

   • Use manufacturer-provided driver CD or download from official website

   • Install and assign printer port in Device Manager/Printer Settings

6. Print Test Page:

   • Hold FEED and power on printer to print test slip

   • Confirm settings (IP address, firmware version, etc.)

7. Integrate with POS Software:

   • Go to POS settings → Select Printer Model

   • Assign it to receipt/transaction function
