How to Install a Cash Drawer

Purpose:
To guide proper installation of a cash drawer for automated POS transactions.

Prerequisites:

• Cash drawer unit with RJ11 cable

• Compatible thermal printer (with DK port)

• POS terminal and software

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Unpack and Position:
   Place the drawer beneath the POS counter or inside a drawer bay. Ensure the drawer can slide open fully.

2. Connect RJ11 Cable:
   Plug one end into the back of the cash drawer, and the other into the DK port of the thermal printer.

3. Power On Printer and POS:
   Cash drawers draw trigger commands via printer signals.

4. Configure in POS Software:

   • Go to printer settings → Enable cash drawer kick

   • Set open commands (usually ESC/POS codes like 27 112 0 25 250)

5. Test Drawer Trigger:
   Complete a test transaction or click "Open Cash Drawer" in POS software. The drawer should pop open.

6. Security Check:
   Insert the drawer key and verify manual lock/unlock functionality.
